I am so excited to have finally reached the 100 post milestone and I am definitely going to deliver in this one. I wanted to talk to you today about getting up early and how you can be more productive because of it. You will be amazed by how much you can do when you get up early. Why Get Up Early?
I think that my reasoning for getting up early might seem peculiar, but it is the reason that I get up in the morning. I get up early so that I can get more done in my day. I want to achieve more and I naturally want to accomplish things. Getting up early allows me to do more of this. If I don’t do this, I am not going to be able to achieve the things that I want in my day, and that is a problem. I also like to get up early in the morning, because if I don’t, I actually feel more tired than if I got up later. As weird as this might seem, I think that it is good for me to get less sleep so that I have the ability to focus during my day.
The Oh So Familiar Snooze Button
Another thing that I want to talk about is the snooze button. It shouldn’t exist. It makes it too easy to give up. My trick for getting myself out of bed is to have two alarms. My alarm clock goes off at 3:45. That gets me up out of sleep into dozing off. Then, my phone will go off with my alarm. My phone sits all the way on my desk and that forces me to get out of bed if I ever want to have any hope of my alarm stopping. That makes me get out of bed, the point at which, I feel like crawling back again, but then I remember I have work to do and I start it.
Getting Your Day Started Right
Now, I am assuming that if you are reading a post about getting up early, you are also going to be interested in productivity, etc. That is why I am including the rest of this post. I think that if you get up early and don’t do what you need to do in your morning, you aren’t going to be able to achieve the things that you want. Blindly taking action isn’t enough. Concentrated, persistent action in the right areas is what you want to go for. When you wake up, you need to create a routine that is healthy for you mind, body, and soul. Make doing the things that you want to do in the morning a habit. I recommend that you eat a healthy breakfast (Garbage in, Garbage out), workout, take some time to think about life, and well as allocating time to plan your day. Doing these four things in your morning will help you increase your productivity because you are going to be able to achieve more and get more done.
Now that you have all this time available to you in the morning, you should figure out what you are going to be doing. I told you that you should plan your day, but I didn’t really specify as to what you should plan and how you should do it. I am going to talk about blocking your time and scheduling your time later, so right now I wanted to go into creating a to-do list and how important creating that to-do list is for you and your day. It is extremely important that you create a list of things that you want to get done in your next day the night before. That way, after your morning routine, you can start getting stuff done. Prioritize your to-do list with ones, twos, and threes. Ones need to be done that day. Twos need to be done, but they aren’t a priority. Threes don’t really be done and should just be taken off the list. You can fill up the time that you would’ve spent on those 3s with 2s that are more valuable. Start your day with getting the ones done, then you can do the less important tasks. Once you have completed the
Create A Schedule and Block Your Time
Now that I talked about creating a to-do list, I wanted to teach you about blocking your time. Go to google calendar and schedule your entire day down to your sleep, commute, when you work, what you are going to do at work, etc. This will allow you to keep on track throughout your day. Create a schedule for your entire day and if what you schedule for yourself doesn’t make you work hard, make your schedule harder. Hard work is for those that want to achieve something.
You have the ability to be more productive in your day. Start working towards it and create a routine for yourself that will help you become more productive and that will allow you to achieve more in your life.
