Instagram is a powerful platform that has the ability to grow your business. A lot. That being said, if you aren’t using that platform to it’s fullest potential, you aren’t going to be able to gain the most business and revenue from your efforts.  So today, I wanted to give you 3 Instagram marketing tips that can help you better connect and communicate with your customers online.

1. Know Your Audience

You need to not only know that your audience is using Instagram, but how they use it, what they are doing with it, what they want to see, the posts types that they most enjoy, your ask to value ratio and many other things about who your target market is.

2. Consistency and Frequency

One frequently misunderstood concept about marketing your business in general that should also be applied to social media is that of frequency and consistency. I would like to use the example of a pro athlete to better illustrate my point:

If you were training for one of the biggest games of the season, how would you train? Well, I can tell you that you aren’t going to train once or twice a week depending on your schedule and kind of run a little bit on the weekend. You are going to be training consistently and frequently every single day so that you can be sure that you are in a good spot for the game. You aren’t going to slack off.

Social media is similar in that you can’t slack off. Create a schedule of when you are going to post and stick to it. You need to set an expectation and meet that expectation for your customers.

3. Tailored Value

The last point that I wanted to talk about is the concept of tailored value. Odds are that your LinkedIn audience is going to be looking for something very different than your Twitter audience. Because of this, you need to figure out a way to deliver specific, tailored value to your audience. In doing this, you are also going to be able to develop who your target market is on each individual platform.  Give the people that follow your business on Instagram content that THEY want, not what you want.
